Collaboration between families, schools and communities can bring the strength of the home and the expertise of the center or school into a strong working partnership (Berger & Riojas-Cortez, 2016). This session will provide stakeholders with possible barriers to effective communication and collaboration between home and school. Participants will learn practical tips and strategies for building positive relationships with the families and community they serve. These strategies will have practical applications to implement immediately following the session.

Learning Objectives

Participants will:
1. Recognize possible barriers to effective communication and collaboration with families they serve.
2. Learn practical tips and strategies for building positive and practical relationships with families and community they serve.
3. Discuss and participate in real-life scenarios to practice positive interactions with teachers, families, schools, and their community.
