This session is designed for anyone who refers parents and young children to mental health services.  You will learn about  Child Parent Psychotherapy, an evidence based practice  for children ages birth through five who have experienced such traumatic events as abuse or neglect; witness to domestic violence; loss of caregivers due to death, incarceration, or other circumstances;  disruptions in placement; and other stressful events. It is also known to be helpful to parents who have their own trauma history in early life.

Audience:   Child Welfare Case Managers,  Early Development Network,  Attorneys, Guardians Ad Litem, Home Visitation

Objectives

  • This presentation will help you make a successful referral for Child Parent Psychotherapy
  • You will gain an understanding of the CPP model
  • You will learn the signs and symptoms shown by infants and young children who are experiencing toxic levels of stress
  • You will be able to engage a parent and help them understand the benefits of CPP
  • You will be able to explain the benefits of CPP to other case professionals
