Most children entering the child welfare system have experienced trauma. Understanding the formation of attachment helps professionals understand developmental disruptions that may occur when a child is exposed to trauma and how good attachment can mediate a trauma response. This session will explore how trauma impacts attachment and the outcomes for children as they develop. It will look at attachment formation in children and why this is important when dealing with children who have experienced trauma.
