Session Description

This session explores the foundational role of self-awareness in effective supervision. Designed for new and emerging supervisors, it focuses on the internal shifts required when transitioning from peer to supervisor. Participants will examine how personal values, emotional responses, and professional boundaries shape their supervisory identity. This session sets the stage for reflective supervision by first turning the lens inward—because how we lead begins with how we understand ourselves.

Learning objectives

  1. Recognize the shift in identity from peer to supervisor and its emotional impact.
  2. Reflect on personal values and beliefs that shape leadership.
  3. Identify emotional responses to supervisory challenges and pressures.
  4. Discuss strategies for self-regulation and resilience, including breathwork and reflection.
  5. Understand compassion fatigue and explore personalized approaches to well-being.
